Most of Chuckleberry’s gardens are in 30-inch-high insulated raised beds to preserve our gardeners’ knees and backs and allow us to garden in hoop houses right through the winter.
Our gardens are served by a drip irrigation system that resources catchment water from our green roof and solar panel hillside using a solar-powered pump and computer-controlled zone valves to supply our gardens and berry terraces with life-giving water during the intensely sunny summer season.
During the summer months, we grow & market an abundance of Garlic, Basil, Stellaria, and Zucchini. The remaining available hoop houses and garden beds allow us to grow fresh vegetables for our community meals! We are often able to provide our own tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, broccoli, peppers, greens, and more!
We also cultivate 3 kinds of blueberries, 3 kinds of blackberries, raspberries, haskap, seabuckthorn and goji berries while the property abounds with uncultivated huckleberries, thimbleberries and saskatoon berries.
